just my opinion, but I think the “bent out of shape” thing is because most people realize there’s a point in a “joke” where the “fooling around” ceases to be funny and starts to be just disturbing or annoying. From what I saw, it didn’t look like the guy getting attacked found it very funny past a certain point and that’s where the whole thing gets disturbing. If it were me, I would not be very happy with what happened, and I don’t consider knowing/having boundaries even in a “joke” and having those boundaries be respected is ever “getting bent out of shape.” but that’s just me.
