  7. ^ Where’d this Denzel rumor come from, Jamie? I heard it was Smith’s decision b/c “He didn’t wanna loose his tough street image with his rap fans.” It’s still an amazing movie though, and his best performance to date, even w/ his lil bout of homophobia.

    It’s not a rumor, they asked Will about the kiss in Premiere magazine back in maybe–Hm, I don’t remember the year but I think he was promoting I, Robot so whenever that came out. He explained how he asked Denzel for advice about it and Denzel told him not to do it because “black people see their actors as heroes”. And I guess Denzel thinks gayness is anti-heroic.

    Anyway, Will said he regrets not doing it and he thinks it was unprofessional for him not to.
