And lots of black people call each other the “n” word. Doesn’t make it right. The point is, homophobia, racism, and sexism are embedded so deeply in our vocabulary that we don’t even realize it. This ad makes the point perfectly. Gay people will continue to be the butt of the joke if we use the word “gay” to talk about something we mean to call “stupid”.
I don’t have a problem with it cause I say it a lot too but its more of a habit and not actually calling something gay. Oh well, but defenitely against dicrimination against gays.
i just think some things are taken a little too seriously….i dont wear my sexuality on my sleeves….and something as insignificant as that doesn’t offend me….i guess i disagree that it is such a huge thing….it shouldn’t be
I love Wanda for being in that commercial. Thank you Wanda. I love you so much. Saying things like “That’s so gay” is really insulting. We’ve never said something when straight people do – like “Oh that’s so straight” when a 15yo girl is knocked up by a 14yo boy!
I think it’s interesting that the term “straight” when used in slang is generally considered to be a good thing. Like instead of saying “I’m good” it’s “I’m straight” or something along those lines while “gay” is being used in reference of something straight.
I can understand why some people don’t consider it to be a big deal. I also understand why some people consider it to be something bigger. I think the biggest thing to be taken from the PSA, the whole gay bit aside, is that people need to understand their words before they say them.
first of all not all black people go around calling eachother niggers and think its okay..and its not even the word “nigger” its usually is “nigga” which there is a signicant difference, if you dont get it, dont bother…….but I do think its true, using the word like that is saying that being gay is dumb, which it isnt…
i actually dont have a problem with that saying….hell…i say it too

LOL! In the second sentence of my first paragraph I meant to say:
Like instead of saying “I’m Good” it’s “I’m straight” or something along those lines while “gay” is being used in freference of something stupid.
I got my S words confused. Which is easy to do considering how stupid straight people are.
