  2. Don’t give him the attention. He sued some rag for defamation over claiming evidence that he’s gay, so he’s either a homophobe or a closet case, or both. His action is bad for us either way, unless he’s rightly laughed out of court.

  4. Yeah he’s serious, but I thought he WON that case and then Peter Tachell tried to get him to donate the money to a GLBT charity — because in the run of this case it did send the message that to be called gay is damaging which is heterosexist bull — and he declined so he kept that money.

His counsel, Tom Shields QC, told the court: “Mr Williams is not, and has never been, homosexual”. Gay rights campaigner Peter Tatchell called for any damages paid out from the libel case to be donated to gay charities, claiming Williams’ legal actions had created the impression that it is “bad to be gay”.[130] Williams retorted that he was not bothered about being labelled as a gay man, and he would have taken the same action had it been regarding a heterosexual relationship. The court case has led some to draw comparisons between Williams and Australian actor/pop star Jason Donovan, who also once made a successful libel claim against a publication concerning his sexuality.
